Highlights of the Week (22/23 Term 2 Week 17)

We hope you all had an amazing long weekend. It was great coming back to school to continue to learn while having fun with friends. Our PN class was super excited to learn about letter Z this week; they learnt words like Zoo, Zebra, and Zipper which all begin with the letter Z. They made a small zoo in the classroom and had so much fun playing with the animals. For Math, it was getting to know the different kinds of colours that they see around them. They had a fun activity where they mixed the colours blue, yellow and red and turn them into new colours such as green, orange and purple. Along with that, they started explore more about nature by learning about plants. The students looked at the different parts of a plant and are excited to learn more about it next week.

We’ve been busy as bees this week as we have engaged in lots of exciting activities. In Critical Thinking, we continued our topic on ‘Plants and Insects’ by learning more about bees. We had so much fun learning about how bees make honey as we role played pretending to be bees. We wore bee headbands and used a pipette to draw ‘nectar’ from flowers and transferred them back to the beehive. It was a wonderful way for us to learn how bees make honey and to practice our fine motor skills by using the pipette. We also had so much fun doing some honey tasting and the students loved ending their snack with some yummy dessert in the form of honey tasting. In Cambridge, Phonics and Math this week, we focused on revising what we have learned thus far by doing activities like matching, colouring and writing. It’s been an eventful week and we can’t wait for more fun in June

This week we are looking at the bees, and looking at the body parts of the bees and also what they do. Then, students discovered the different life stages of a bee; from the egg, larva, pupa and finally, becoming an adult bee. The lifecycle of a bee was reinforced by doing an activity in which they have to stick the correct stages of a bee in order, as well as labelling the name of the bee in that particular cycle. The students’ knowledge of the bee was further reinforced through videos and looking at models of the bees as well as their habitats.

For Math this week, we are again practising subtraction up to 10, by using objects or with the number line. Students is now familiar with the concept of “taking away” the objects and the answer must be smaller than the number in the equation. Moreover, we are taking different objects in class and using the method “count in 5s” to ensure more efficient counting as they learn numbers up to 100.

Welcome back friends! We hope everyone had a pleasant long weekend! Here's what our K3 friends have been up to this week! Our diligent friends were faced with the very familiar green leafy vegetables. They began with the understanding of the different parts of the plants and what they are for, and then, they got to see which parts of those plants are the ones we consume!

Then for Math, our friends continued to learn more about fractions, especially what the numerator and denominators are and demonstrated their understanding with more fraction activities. It was nice to see them have a deeper acknowledgement of what a quarter is and even relate it to the concept of time! Then for our subtraction, we levelled up our skills to using 2 double-digit equations within 50.

Finally, for Physical Play we focused on our Easter Basket Yoga to strengthen our core and the Hot Cross-Over Buns to stretch out our hips and lower backs. We wrapped the week with the game of Fast Reactions wherein they have to stay alert and see which one of our friends has the quickest reactions. It definitely brought out the competitiveness in them!

Time flies by real fast as we are finally in the month of June! Stay hydrated and keep it cool!

主題:「幫助我們的人」─醫生護士

「幫助我們的人」主題已經進入第二週了,老師首先透過圖卡讓幼兒認識所有會在主題觸及的「幫助我們的人」,然後與幼兒進入今週重點學習內容─認識醫生和護士。

透過實物幼兒學習到醫生和護士的工具及用途。另外,透過角色的扮演,幼兒體驗看醫生的程序,並在老師引導下,學習分辨醫生和護士的工作和職責,幼兒拿著醫生的用具時更會主動地與老師分享:「我睇醫生既時候見過呢個啊!」、「我病既時候媽 媽會餵藥俾我!」幼兒都能把自己的日常經驗投入在活動當中,樂於分享自己的所見所聞


學習目的:

(1) 觀察及探索醫生和護士工作用的工具與其用途

(2) 認識看醫生的程序

(3) 重溫「田」的字形和字義

主題----「衣服」

今週繼續主題「衣服」,幼兒對衣服有基本的認識,懂得選擇適合自己的衣物,更認識到購物衣服的程序。今週運用幼兒的校服和運動服引發幼兒認識不同場合的衣服種類,利用圖片和影片認識認識不同場合應穿不同的衣服,例如:學校穿校服和運動服、游泳池穿泳衣等等,同時認識了不同職業也有專有的制服,幼兒能分辨不同職業的人士,還認識不同國家的衣著服飾,幼兒更選出他們最喜歡的國家的衣著服飾。最後,透過故事「國王的新衣」學習做個誠實的孩子,不應該說謊,衣服就算有多美都不及心地善良重要,盡力做好自己的事。


學習目的:

1) 說出不同職業的制服特徵。

2) 分辨不同場合的衣服。

3) 認識不同國家的衣著服飾。

主題:「幫助我們的人」─醫護人員

本週已進入「幫助我們的人」的第三週,今週介紹醫護人員,包括,醫生,護士,牙醫……等,因為幼兒生病看醫生方面經驗豐富,所以十分投入,會主動分享自己的經驗,並邀請班中一位任職護士的家長,到校與幼兒分享其日常工作,如替病人探體溫、清洗傷口等。過程中讓幼兒對護士工作有更深的認識。老師透過簡報介紹其他專科醫生,幼兒會說出牙齒生病,需找牙醫;眼睛生病,需要找眼科醫生。當老師出示腳骨的 X光片時,幼兒會說找「腳醫生」、找「手醫生」,最後由老師介紹「骨科醫生」,早前有幼兒在家中發生意外,需要「骨科醫生」幫忙拍X光片,看看骨骼有沒有斷裂的情況,其他幼兒亦會主動問「你的手部現在是否痊癒了?」從中看見幼兒的同理心,懂得關心別人。


學習目的:

1. 認識醫生的種類、制服

2. 知道醫生的工作及工作地點

3. 知道醫生的裝備和工具

4. 認識一些醫生的協助人員

5. 培養幼兒感謝幫助我們和生病時照顧自己的人

主題:「購物樂」-儲蓄好習慣

延續上週主題,今週老師繼續與小朋友商討如果我們有錢的時候會甚樣做。例如在農曆新年時,長輩給我們的利是錢會怎麼處理呢?他們都紛紛說,會給父母保管、放在銀行裏、放在爸媽買的錢罌裏等用作儲蓄,等待將來購買需要用的物品。他們也分享爸媽說過,如果想買玩具及食物等,可從這裡取出金錢購買,因此他們知道儲蓄很重要呢!

此外,有些幼兒分享,也曾經用過利是錢買旗作捐款,或將錢放在一些籌款箱內,幫助一些有需要的人,這樣的行為能獻出他們的愛心及金錢,是值得讚賞及讓他們互相學習。


學習目的:

(1) 認識捐獻的概念

(2) 思考如何幫助他人

(3) 培養儲蓄的好習慣
