Highlights of the Week (24/25 Term 2 Week 8)

This week in pre-nursery class, our little learners excitedly dove into the theme of Community Helpers, focusing on the important role of a doctor! The children dressed up in adorable doctor costumes, engaging in an imaginative play as they pretended to care for dolls and stuffed animals. In our English time, we explored the letter Q, creating beautiful crowns for a queen and even crafting colourful quilts to celebrate our creativity. In our Math session, we focused on the diamond shape, where the children participated in a fun activity that allowed them to identify shapes. Overall, it was a week filled with learning, creativity, and lots of laughter. We look forward to another exciting week ahead!

K1

This week our K1 classes had a wonderful time continuing with our exploration of the ‘Space’ theme, encouraging critical thinking skills in a fun and interactive way. One of the highlights was our creative project where we crafted telescopes using painted cups and tubes, decorating them with charming star stickers before embarking on a stargazing adventure illuminated by projected lights.

In line with the Cambridge curriculum’s ‘My Town’ focus, we reviewed the vocabulary by playing ‘Name the Picture’ and integrated lively songs into lessons, complementing our workbook activities.

During our Phonics lessons, we revisited familiar sight words /I/ /to/ and /the/, alongside reinforcing past sounds and learning to blend the new sounds /n/ and /p/.

Moreover, our K1 students immersed themselves in the joy of music by practicing a lively new dance routine and honed their physical coordination through obstacle courses during playtime.

It was a week full of exploration, creativity, and skill-building across various subjects and we are so proud of our K1 students!

K2

Hello, K2 Friends and Families!

What a warm and wonderful week we've had in K2!  This week, we had a blast learning all about pets! We explored our fantastic Super Minds books from Cambridge and, guess what? They surprised us with a Pet Show! It was so much fun to see all the different pets and talk about where they like to stay. We practiced using our special words called prepositions, like on, in, and under.

As we wrapped up our space-themed month, we made some super cool crafts! We created rotating models of the Sun and Earth.  It was so much fun to watch them spin! We also enjoyed playing team games to help us practice our addition and counting all the way to 100! Yay for teamwork!

To finish off our week, we celebrated our friends at the Pathfinder Awards ceremony.  We cheered for everyone who received awards for their special efforts. It was a joyful moment for all of us!

This week has been incredibly fun, and we can’t wait to see what next week will bring!

K3

Greetings, friends! We’ve arrived at the final week of March with our K3 buddies! During our critical thinking sessions, our friends embarked on an exciting journey to discover the wonders of our magnificent stars. They had a fantastic time learning about the life cycle of stars and their formation. Our friends also enjoyed exploring various types of stars and understanding their significance in our galaxies! In Math, our friends continued their exploration of money. This week, they practiced combining and counting bills and coins together, having a blast while learning through play with their play money! We also tackled additional word problems to boost their addition skills. It was wonderful to see our friends grasping the questions and translating them into their mathematical abilities!

主題-有益的食物

本週主題繼續圍繞「有益的食物」,幼兒透過遊戲認識生活中常見的奶類和肉類食物,並在老師的提示和鼓勵下,描述自己的生活經驗─在哪裏、與誰人一起時見過甚麼的奶類和肉類食物?幼兒都踴躍嘗試分享,能訓練個人表達及聆聽別人分享的社交技巧。

另外,老師還製作了「喝水記錄表」,鼓勵和培養幼兒建立良好的喝水習慣,幼兒也拿出水樽一起喝多一點水呢! 老師今週也教授了中文認字「蛋」,老師利用生雞蛋讓幼兒觀察蛋的外表和顏色,認識雞蛋未煮熟時的形態是怎樣。

 

學習目的: (1) 認識生活中常見的奶類和肉類食物及其名稱 (2) 知道保持身體健康每天要喝六至八杯水 (3) 認識「蛋」的字形和字義

主題:「有益的食物」-均衡飲食

今週來到主題「有益的食物」的尾聲。老師首先介紹豆製品及其益處,幼兒細心觀察不同種類的豆的分別。幼兒知道了豆類製成品含豐富植物蛋白質、纖維、礦物質和維生素,對身體健康非常有益。另外,老師引導幼兒思考常吃零食帶來的後果,幼兒都能說出吃太多可能會肚痛或破壞牙齒等,從而明白了常吃零食是不健康的表現及保護牙齒的方法。我們亦進行了討論活動,探討食物金字塔和營養餐單,幼兒透過活動了解均衡飲食的重要性,並培養他們嘗試不同食物的意願。幼兒在討論過程中思考到自己喜歡和不喜歡的食物,並解釋不喜歡該些食物的原因。在整個主題過後,我們希望能夠讓幼兒認識到食物的多樣性和營養價值,並鼓勵他們嘗試不同的食物,培養出不偏食的習慣。

 

學習目的:

1. 認識豆類的制成品。

2.鼓勵兒童嘗試不同的食物,並養成不偏食的習慣。

主題----「小小科學家」

     今週繼續主題「小小科學家」,幼兒透過不同的材料和工具探索和分辨滾動的物品,從中認識在滾動時會產生摩擦力,而當斜坡越高時,滾動速度越快;斜坡越低時,則越慢。透過實踐,他們亦找出有其他物品是可以滾動的,具有相當的科學精神。

過程中幼兒積極和好奇地透過觀察和比較探索玩具車在不同質料上滾動的情況,發現粗糙的物料會產生較大的摩擦力,知道摩擦力也會為我們帶來好處。他們在遊戲中認識了不同的動詞,例如推、滾動、放開等,更理解字詞的讀音及字義。

此外,幼兒透過滾動的實驗認識立體的圖形,他們踴躍剪開立體圖形,再觀察當中的分別,知道立體有不同形狀的面,再主動參與遊戲把平面和立體圖形分類。

 

學習目的:

1) 探索不同質料的「路面」

2) 認識立體有不同形狀的面

3) 能分辨可以滾動的物品

今週繼續主題「小小科學家」,幼兒興奮地與老師一起進行不同的實驗以探索電,他們積極與同學一同研究如何把電池裝置在物品中以發動電動物品,同時亦大膽地進行假設,尋求未能成功發動電動物品的原因,具有相當的科學精神。

此外,幼兒們透過影片認識電的產生方式,例如火力發電、水力發電、風力發電等,他們積極與老師分享多種會使用電的物品或電器。除此之外,幼兒們興奮地嘗試以摩擦的方法產生靜電,進行靜電實驗,感知靜電吸引物品的效果,且熱烈地向老師分享生活中發現靜電的經驗。

 

學習目的:

1. 認識電力的來源

2. 知道正確使用電池的方法

3. 願意嘗試以摩擦的方法產生靜電
