Highlights of the Week (24/25 Term 2 Week 9)

This week in pre-nursery, our little learners had an exciting time exploring the world of dentists! They participated in a fun activity where they pretended to be dentists, using toy dental kits to check their friends' teeth and practice good oral hygiene. In our English lesson, we focused on the letter 'R.' The children enjoyed a delightful scavenger hunt around the classroom, searching for objects that start with 'R,' like rabbit, rainbow and ribbons. We had a blast exploring the letter 'R' by creating a bright, rainbow 'R'! The little artists glued on strips of colourful paper, making their letter sparkle with every shade of the rainbow. In Math, we discovered the shape of a heart! The kids loved making heart-shaped crafts with paper and glue, and we played a sorting game where they categorized various objects by their shapes. With the Ching Ming Festival holiday coming up this Friday, we wish everyone a wonderful long weekend and can’t wait to see all the smiling faces back in class!




K1

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our ABC blog!

This week in Phonics, we focused on blending with /g/ and /f/. In Cambridge, we reviewed the vocabulary from “My Town” and discussed various aspects of going to the cinema. To simulate a visit to the cinema, we provided tickets and popcorn for the kids. They enjoyed watching a short movie while munching on their popcorn.

For Critical Thinking, we introduced a new topic: “Bees.” We talked about the body parts of bees and what products we get from them. The kids also had a honey-tasting session, which they really enjoyed.

In Math, we introduced a new concept called “In and Out” and continued practicing up to 14.

This wraps up our week, and we can’t wait for more fun next week!




K2

This week for Critical thinking, our K2 students started a new topic on insects. We looked at the different types of insects as well the body features of an insect. We learned the characteristics through a song which is taken from the song “Head, shoulder, knees and toes” but replacing the lyrics with “Head, thorax, abdomen, abdomen”. We had a lot of fun singing the songs and learning about insects at the same time.

We were given different types of animals and we had to identify which ones were insects and which ones were not and stick them onto the correct category.

For Math, we have also started a new topic which is “Clocks”. Our K2 students learned that there are two kinds of clocks, analog and digital. We focused on analog clocks this week, learning the word “o’clock”. Students learned that the term o’clock means having two zeros at the second part of the clock. Then we also played a game where we had to match the same time on the digital clock with the analog clocks. We had a lot of fun playing this game!




K3

Welcome to another week of learning in K3. We are so thrilled to continue our Critical Thinking lesson on Space, where we explore and create our own projects. As we dive into the wonders of Space and the knowledge available to us, we also discuss what else might exist beyond the information and facts we find in books and on the internet. It’s so fun to imagine and create these images and ideas we have and put them in our project work.

Our learning continues in English class, where we apply the preposition of place we’ve studied to our new topic of “Around the Town”. We learned the words near, above, below, and opposite by discussing the meanings and how we use them when reading a town map.

We’ve finally come to the last part of learning about money where we learn to combine notes and coins together. We were given word problems to solve together as a pair and present the right amount of money as our answer to these questions.  It was a great practical way to learn about money.

主題-有益的食物

本週是「有益的食物」的第四週,幼兒認識不同種類蔬菜的名稱,知道吃蔬菜和蔬果是對身體有益處。老師亦帶領幼兒進行製作蔬菜沙律體驗活動,幼兒今次製作的沙律材料有粟米和蘿蔔,在活動中,他們切切蘿蔔,拌拌粟米便完成了!既容易製作又有益!幼兒都吃得津津有味!

另外,幼兒亦都學習進食時的餐桌禮儀,學習進食時身體要坐得端正、慢慢咀嚼食物等。小朋友亦表現優秀,能夠為同伴作出一個良好的示範,值得欣賞!

認字方面,幼兒繼續認識中文認字「蛋」,為了加深幼兒認識「蛋」,老師讓幼兒自己親手剝開雞蛋殼和品嚐雞蛋的味道。小朋友在活動過程中表現認真和專注。

 

學習目的:

(1)體驗製作沙律的樂趣

(2)認識「蛋」的字形和字義

(3)知道正確有禮的餐桌禮儀




K1

主題-交通工具

本週,老師帶領幼兒認識陸上交通工具,包括巴士、小巴和的士。在學習巴士的活動中,幼兒了解乘坐巴士的注意事項,如車號、目的地和乘車禮儀。透過展示單層和雙層巴士的圖片、分享乘車經驗以及進行模擬遊戲,幫助幼兒體驗和理解乘車流程,從而建立對乘車規則的認識和遵守。

同時,老師教導幼兒在乘坐小巴時應該遵守的安全規則。這些安全規則包括配戴安全帶以確保自身安全,以及避免身體伸出窗外,以避免受傷或造成危險。透過活動,幼兒明白這些規則的遵守對於乘車過程中的安全至關重要,有助於建立他們的安全意識和良好的乘車習慣。

此外,老師介紹不同顏色的香港的士特色和運行區域。在香港,紅色的士主要在市區行駛,綠色的士在新界地區提供服務,藍色的士則主要在機場附近運行。透過這些介紹,幼兒能更了解不同的士的運行區域和服務範圍,豐富他們對城市交通工具的認識和理解。活動幫助於幼兒在日常生活中安全乘坐不同的陸上交通工具。

學習目的:

(1)認識各種常見的陸上交通工具

(2)知道巴士車箱內的設備、用途及乘車規則

(3)認識小巴的外形特徵




K2

主題----「小小科學家」

     今週已踏入主題「小小科學家」的尾聲,幼兒透過浮和沉實驗分辨會浮或沉的物品,了解水有密度,同時認識不同物件也有密度,只要密度大於水,就會沉到底,密度小於水,就會浮在水面。幼兒們亦積極參與改變水中密度的實驗使雞蛋的密度變得比水小,能更容易浮起來。

除此之外,幼兒十分投入參與水和油的實驗,透過實驗知道水和油密度因不一樣所以無法混合,他們樂於從過程中觀察和探索找出因乳化作用能使水和油產生變化的物質。幼兒們也熱衷運用已有知識一起合作完成實驗作品。

 

學習目的:

1) 認識水和不同物件也有密度

2) 認識在水加入鹽,增加水的密度,能令物件浮起

3) 知道水和油無法混合



K3

今週已踏入主題「小小科學家」的尾聲,與幼兒透過眼睛觀察四周環境的顏色,利用不同的實驗去探索色彩,他們興奮地通過混色實驗了解色彩混合和顏色的變化現象,幼兒透過一滴一滴加入顏料的過程中,能夠清楚觀察到顏色漸漸的變化。

此外,老師利用吹泡泡工具,吹出大小不同的泡泡時,幼兒敏銳地觀察到陽光折射於泡泡的顏色如彩虹般的色彩,他們也積極嘗試製作肥皂泡水,希望能製作出最持久的彩虹肥皂泡,十分享受製作時的過程。

 

學習目的:

1.   探索肥皂泡的形狀與泡泡環之間的關係

2.   探索不同顏色混合的變化

3.   能掌握運用放大鏡、望遠鏡的技巧
