Highlights of the Week

For the theme of “I’m Ready for School”, the children are getting to know the names of things they see in the classroom such as a book, a chair, and a crayon. For English, they learnt new words that start with the letter B. They even got creative and turned the letter B into a butterfly. When it comes to numbers, they are getting to know more about the number 1 and counting all the objects around them. It has been a busy week for the children, but the teachers are making sure to fill the day with lots of fun games and songs. It’s no wonder why the PN students now enjoy coming to school to see their teachers and friends.




K1

It’s wonderful to see our students settling in to their new classrooms and enjoying all of our school activities. This week, we started the theme of ‘My Classroom’ through songs and stories with Mike, Leo, Polly, and Gina. We enjoyed seeing what our Cambridge friends have in their classroom and comparing it to our own classrooms in school. For math, we continued to practice our numbers by counting to 3 and learning the colour yellow. The students enjoyed learning the concept of ‘big and small’ as we got a chance to see pictures of different animals and compare their sizes. Critical thinking this week is all about introducing the Mid-Autumn festival and role playing activities we can do with our families during this wonderful time. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed sharing their lanterns with their friends, as well as seeing the different lanterns their friends have brought in. We look forward to continuing the celebrations next week!

This week for Critical Thinking we are discussing about Mid-Autumn festival. Students were eager to share their experiences of the festival from the previous years. Most importantly, they all brought in their lanterns to perform “Show and tell” with the whole class. For craft, students also made their own paper lanterns by cutting the lines indicated on the paper template. This is an excellent but also a fun way to practice their cutting skills! Happy Mid-Autumn festival everyone!

It’s week 3 already and we are settling well into routines and our class schedules. This week in math, we are continuing to learn addition as well as several 3D shapes. We have discussed the difference between 2D and 3D shapes and encourage you to find everyday objects and ask your child if the item is 2D or 3D. The K3 students are also working on warming up before physical play and stretching their bodies well. The children are learning about the Mid-Autumn Festival and the different phases of the moon. We are encouraging the students to look outside and try to find the moon in the evenings. Take the time to talk to your child about the moon and the phase you are observing. We are looking forward to celebrating Mid-Autumn next week.

主題:「我的家」─我的家人

今週展開新主題「我的家」,幼兒把家庭合照與老師和同學分享。在老師引導下,幼兒嘗試介紹自己的家人,藉此加強自我表達的信心及語言表達能力。在分組活動時,老師請幼兒模仿家人在家會做的事,例如模仿媽媽平常在家打掃的模樣,幼兒拿起掃帚掃地的樣子很可愛呢!

幼兒逐漸適應課堂的日程和常規,每天都開心地上課,分組時會自行進行不同的分組活動如美勞創作,音樂唱遊時能有序地拿起樂器搖動,老師樂見幼兒每天一點一滴的進步呢!

(2)能說出家人的稱謂

(3)認識家庭成員的不同職責

主題:「我的學校」-學校裏幫助我們的人


本週展開了新的主題「我的學校」。轉眼間,幼兒們已上課三個星期了,對每一個學習天的活動流程都熟習了很多。幼兒現積極學習舉手發問和嘗試回答老師的提問,非常棒呢!另外,幼兒亦認識了學校裏幫助我們的人,例如主任、老師、姨姨和書記姐姐等。在老師引導下,幼兒學習運用完整句子向他們打招呼,一起學習做個有禮貌的小朋友!

老師又與幼兒討論「我最喜愛的學習活動」,有的分享喜歡聽老師說故事、有的喜歡唱遊、有的喜歡體能遊戲等。雖然幼兒喜好不同,但分享時都十分雀躍,並踴躍分享喜歡的原因,可見大家都十分喜愛上學呢!

主題:「我們的學校」─我們都是好朋友


今週,我們的學習主題圍繞「我們都是好朋友」。透過故事分享,幼兒學習理解、尊重及接納別人的感受及意願。另外,新同學經過慢慢相處後,最後我們都可變成好朋友。

透過故事及遊戲,幼兒學習安靜聆聽老師的說話,以及待人處事應有的禮貌,例如別人跟你說話時,要用心聆聽,等待對方說畢才回應;回答別人時,眼睛要看着對方等。幼兒還透過不同的情景進行角色扮演,實踐運用禮貌的用語,學習互助互愛,每一位幼兒都十分投入呢!


學習目的:

(1) 學習理解、尊重及接納別人的感受及意願

(2) 學習互相幫忙、合作、分享和遊戲

(3) 培養待人處事應有的禮貌

主題:「我們居住的地方」-社區設施和商店

今週展開新主題「我們居住的地方」。小朋友每天都在生活的社區裏經歷着不同的人、事、物。在此主題學習中,老師透過故事、討論、角色扮演等遊戲活動,讓小朋友更了解和認識自己的社區。老師為小朋友介紹了不同的社區設施,例如醫院、消防局、公園及不同的商店等,小朋友都踴躍分享自己使用這些設施的經驗,老師亦藉此引導小朋友思考怎樣才是正確使用社區設施的態度,培養小朋友愛護社區的良好品德。

另外,在談及商店時,老師發現小朋友對美食十分感興趣,於是運用了圖片配對的遊戲,與小朋友延伸學習香港是個多元文化的城市,有着各式各樣的美食,因此香港亦有「美食天堂」的美譽。

最後語文技巧方面,我們今週繼續鞏固四素句的概念,老師以重組句子強化小朋友對四素句的應用,小朋友都十分認真練習呢!
