Highlights of the Week

The PN students have continued to explore the world of animals. This week, the children decided to learn more about the animals that live on land especially those on the farm. Through some music and storytelling, they got to know many names such as chicken, cow, pig etc. Another place they got to learn about was the zoo and all the animals that live there. For English, the PN students learnt about the letter D and the letter Q. For the letter D, the children got to knock on doors and open them up to see all the pictures beginning with D. There was duck, donut, dolls and even dad that was hiding behind those doors. They even got to go around the school knocking on several doors and seeing what’s behind them. It was a great week of exploration for the PN students.

Another week has passed for our K1 students and they sure are having a great time! After mastering their house vocabulary in Cambridge last week, our K1 children are tackling prepositions as they learn how to use ‘on, in and under’ to describe where things are placed. The Phonics lessons continue this week as they are introduced to the sound /c/ and /d/. We are very proud of all our K1 students as they are trying their very best to write the sounds in their new books as well! For Math, we continue to master counting up to 10 through fun exercises and have enjoyed reviewing the shape diamond through a fun colouring activity and scavenger hunt. Our K1 students also did very well pretending to be doctors this week as they explored the different tools they would need to help care for their sick patients. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for next week as we hop over to Zoom! Stay safe, everyone!

This week in critical thinking we have been learning about the mail and how to write a letter. Students learned about what an address is and how stamps work. In English we finished up our unit on transportation and how we can get to places. We learned about the different methods of travel in the land, air and sea categories. We also learned about mountains and amusement parks! They very much enjoyed discussing and seeing videos/pictures of those places!

We have been continuing our critical thinking topic of ‘community helpers’ this week in K3 by learning about the Coast Guard and Mountain Rescue Helpers. We have learned the difference between these two important jobs and what equipment they use to help save people in need. The students were very interested in the skills and bravery that is needed by people who choose to have these jobs. We also continued to expand on learning place value for maths as well as more subtraction practice. For place value, we have been learning up to the tens place and breaking down numbers between 1 and 100. We have been practicing with bean bags and coordination this week during physical play and continue to improve in stretching. We hope you have a lovely weekend.

主題：「郊遊」─保護環境你我有責

今週是主題「郊遊」的第二週，承接上週的野餐活動，老師今週介紹另一個郊遊活動─「放風箏」。老師與幼兒一起欣賞各式各樣的風箏，然後一起製作風箏，過程中，幼兒學習互相合作。製作風箏的活動帶來樂趣外，也讓他們建立成功感。

另外，老師向幼兒分享小情境故事，內容有關樹木因人們帶來的垃圾和破壞而不快樂，這讓幼兒明白到郊遊時應清理自己帶來的物品和垃圾，保持環境清潔。老師其後與幼兒進行清理垃圾小遊戲，讓他們實踐及提升保護環境的意識和概念。

學習目的 :

(1) 認識郊遊可進行的各項活動

(2) 學習保持環境清潔

(3) 享受模擬放風筝的樂趣

主題:「房屋」─ 動物的家

今週主題繼續圍繞「房屋」，老師透過故事及情境圖與幼兒探討家居安全的注意事項，幼兒都專心聆聽，並踴躍分享自己對家居安全的理解。

另外，老師運用小影片引導幼兒觀察及思考動物居住的「房屋」與人類的是否一樣，藉此帶出「動物的家」這個分題。在老師的引導下，幼兒嘗試描述各種動物的家的外形，也學習欣賞牠們所建造的房屋。最後，老師與幼兒延伸討論家中的寵物及飼養寵物的經驗，並教導幼兒要愛護動物及大自然呢！

主題:「交通工具」─ 海上交通工具

今週主題繼續圍繞「交通工具」。繼上週的陸上交通工具及道路安全設施後，老師今週與幼兒討論海上交通工具。透過短片，老師介紹了各類香港常見的船隻，例如渡海小輪、郵輪、獨木舟、貨船等，幼兒都踴躍分享自己對以上船隻的認識及乘船的經驗呢！另外，老師與幼兒延伸討論維持海上交通安全的設施，包括燈塔、碼頭等，幼兒對這些設施都十分感好奇呢！爸爸媽媽在家也可與幼兒閱讀或瀏覽有關海上交通安全的設施，延伸是次主題的學習呢！

學習目的：

(1)認識香港常見的海上交通工具

(2)認識各種海上安全設施

(3)認識各國特別的海上交通工具
