Wearing red clothes, looking at different decorations and finding out that this Chinese New Year is the year of the Tiger, are all of the wonderful things the PN students learnt about this week. They listened to fascinating stories and danced to lion dance music that gave them a better understanding of this special festival. For English, the children learnt about the letter F and the letter S. For the letter S, the children got to show their teachers all the things they can find at home that starts with S. Some of the PN students were able to show their sunglasses during class and had a good laugh about it. For Math, it was a review of all the shapes they learnt from first term. The children learnt how there are many things around them that look like circles, triangles, rectangles and squares. It was truly another week of fun zoom classes for the children.

It was the second week of Zoom classes for our K1 students, and they have been doing well exploring new topics and reviewing everything they have learnt. We have said goodbye to the topic ‘My House’ in our Cambridge lessons and have moved on to explore ‘Farm Animals’. All our K1 students were very keen on using their great listening skills to guess which farm animal is making specific sounds. They also loved talking which animals they liked. Our K1 children’s sound knowledge in Phonics continues to grow as they move on to learn two more sounds this week with /g/ and /h/. They explored these through stories and had a good time, sharing things they could find at home that starts with those sounds. Our students’ counting skills have been put to the test in Math as we shopped for fruits at our very own virtual supermarket. They used their number knowledge well to help get everything on our shopping list and used their colour knowledge to help a friendly polar bear move into his new home. It was all about Chinese New Year with Critical Thinking this week as our students explored which animals are in the Zodiac and what we can do to celebrate! This week we are talking about the significant festival which is happening next week, Chinese New Year! All the students have learned a lot about this festival already and they all wanted to show and share their previous experiences of Chinese New Year with their classmates. On Zoom, they also learnt about the different animals that are associated with each year through stories and songs. We wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year and good health in the year of the Tiger!

The K3 students have been doing very well adapting to the Zoom lessons while continuing to have great and positive attitudes. Show and Tell is a big hit and they love showing things from around their home. This week, we continued to learn about measurement in centimeters for math. We discussed the different words to use when measuring for height versus length. Encourage your child to measure items and toys around your home with a ruler and talk about the difference in length or height. We have also been practicing math equations that have both addition and subtraction. For Critical Thinking, we started to learn about Chinese New Year and the different traditions and food eaten during this holiday. With the year of the Tiger being our inspiration, we did some arts and crafts and made tigers as a class. We hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday over the next two weeks. Have a Happy New Year! 今週主題圍繞「農曆新年」,老師利用《年獸的故事》讓幼兒認識過年的傳統習俗與活動。另外,老師向幼兒介紹各個農曆新年的習俗,包竹括舞獅、大掃除、寫揮春等,以及一些應節食品,包括糖蓮藕、瓜子、開心果等,老師其後請幼兒一起設計新年全盒,幼兒對農曆新年的食品都感到很新奇呢!
新年快到了,爸爸媽媽在家也可以請幼兒一起準備全盒及幫忙大掃除,建立幼兒的責任感呢!

主題:「農曆新年」─ 齊來準備過新年
今週,我們展開了新主題「農曆新年」。老師透過故事《年獸的傳說》帶出農曆新年即將來臨,幼兒並認識到農曆新年的由來。另外,老師出示圖片及影片讓幼兒認識農曆新年的慶祝活動、應節食物和物品等,藉此加深幼兒對新年的認識。最後,老師透過視像與幼兒進行模擬活動,與幼兒一邊唱着新年歌曲《恭喜》,一邊擺動雙手模擬手持清潔用具為課室大掃除,幼兒們都樂在其中,表現投入呢!

主題: 「交通工具」及「農曆新年」—認識未來交通工具及農曆新年習俗
今週主題圍繞「交通工具」及「農曆新年」。老師首先利用圖片「水陸兩用巴士」引起幼兒對交通工具用途的聯想,有些幼兒會聯想汽車可以飛上天空、有些分享汽車可以潛水、有的說飛機上有游泳池等,其後,老師帶出今集的討論重點——未來交通工具,並請幼兒運用創意及想像力嘗試創作一款未來的交通工具,幼兒都很感興趣,踴躍分享自己的作品。
另外,農曆新年快到了,老師透過短片和簡報與幼兒重溫農曆新年的不同習俗,例如大掃除、貼揮春、逛年宵市場、買年花紅封包等,老師並請幼兒分享會向長輩說的祝福語,課堂頓時充滿着濃厚的節日氣氛呢!

今週展開新主題「農曆新年」。透過圖片及簡報,老師與小朋友重溫農曆新年的由來,以及不同的節慶活動 、習俗和應節食物。
另外,透過配對遊戲,小朋友認識了與農曆新年相關的不同字詞。老師並利用多媒體設計簡報與小朋友做好準備迎接新年。我們一起認識全盒內的各種賀年食品,以及認識客人來拜年時我們接待客人應有的禮儀,包括遞茶給客人、說出賀年祝福語等。最後,老師與小朋友一起歡唱新年歌曲作結,感受和體驗農曆新年的節日氣氛,大家都十分期待新年的來臨呢!
